Belated 'Trick or Treat' & Huge Cooler Pot Thoughts

Few Pics From the cardroom on Halloween

06/11/11 - Tough Grinding Session
I slowly turned £40 into £259 over the space of 3-4 hours then this hand took place:

All table limps I’m utg with TT 10 handed.
Flop comes:
Td-8c-6d
I check call £7 after asking this guy how much he was playing(£224).
My thinking is he has either air/straight draw or flush draw. Villan is Chinese player who can play good but will commit to a made hand not thinking of folding. Eg limped pot 10 handed, he would stack off with 2s3s fairly deep on Xs-Xs-Xs-Xc-Xd.

We go to the turn heads up and the turn is 8s giving us:
Td-8c-6d-8s
Check, Check.

River is the 4d giving is a final board of:
Td-8c-6d-8s-4d
I lead for £27, a slight overbet into the pot. My thinking here is he ships higher flush draw and raises other hands as a bluff a a small % of the time.
I get raised £58 a bet of £85 total on the river. I think a very small % of the time he has Quads and here his range is:
T8/68/84/66/44/79/57 and all the flushes.
88.
I can narrow the range down somewhat as he is raising a diamond. So now we put the range down to:
T8/68/66/44/AdXd/KdXd (Ahead of).
88(Behind).
So we beat maybe 6 hands that raise but defiantly 5 hands with the action on this hand up until the river lead by me. Were behind one hand which is very rare to see in this spot.

08/11/11 - Tesco Fuel Station
I filled my car up today after driving around on almost fumes for a few days. My car holds about 60-65 litres of fuel from a bone dry tank. I fuelled up 59.63 Litres of Diesel @ 137.9p Per Litre for £82.23p.
I had a coupon for 5p off a litre, so I saved £2.95p bringing my fuel bill down to £79.28p. Not much change from a ton.

I’m saving up for a smaller more economical car, at the moment I’m driving a 1905cc Turbo Diesel. Thinking of a Citroën C1. Bog standard I think the front of the car looks nice but the rear looks awful. I really don’t care anyway, but just to show you, the appearance of anything can be changed.

Degenerate or Machine?

Thursday night/Friday morning 10 hour session at the card room, 3 hours sleep, work then travel to Oxford, get four hours of patchy sleep. Wake up and travel to London Saturday for a wedding which surprisingly I enjoyed, helped being with a really beautiful girl though. I travel back to Oxford at night and get 6 hours of sleep. Sunday I knocked in an 11 hour sleep session : )
Monday travel back from Oxford to Derbyshire, home at 2:30pm, clean car, eat, shower then head to the card room for a 16 hour session. Get home at 12:30pm, smash two burgers down the hatch then sleep for 2 hours. Wake up then off to work, sleep for 1 hour.

Hello my name is Mat and I am a degenerate, or is that a machine ; )

Mark Williams spotting at the G Casino's Sheffield Card Room

I only saw Mark so cannot confirm the others, but was told Stephen Hendry and another player who I didn’t know were there too.

In Sheffield there is an International Snooker Development Centre(or something similar, I can’t quite remember), that’s why all these high profile snooker professionals are knocking around the casino card room.

I promise next time I see anyone I will get a live picture and post to the blog. I can never be bothered to ask, but realise it would make a much better ‘Spotting’ blog.

I would like to think that this will stop everybody dead, dreaming that one day FullTiltPoker might be up and running again. But it is kind of like why poker is profitable for a skilled intelligent player, dumb people are never far from your table!

Ken Doherty spotting at the G Casino's Sheffield Card Room

So I was playing in the card room last night/this morning, tired out of my mind and I keep looking at this guy. I'm thinking I know you! It’s only Ken Doherty! This is what I want to know, Is he married because he goes home early doors and I know cash flows not the problem : )

If any of you fan boys want an autograph, come down to the G Casino Card Room in Sheffield, England. He will be in there later too.

£1/£1 Back Room Game,Ruling Please

Re-Post from a post I made at twoplustwo.com

Hi people, thought I would ask a question for the more experienced live
pros:

About me. I used to play online as a $400nl pro for 5 years,
2005-2010 and I have maybe around 100-150 hours at live cash lifetime, so I have
experience but wouldn’t say I’m an experienced live player by any
means.

So last night I had been playing live at my local casino in a GBP
£1/£1 game. After 11 hours the table broke and we moved into the back room where
a self dealt game continued. One person who was not playing dealt the game, on
the 7th hand this occurred:

I raise UTG to £4, four handed with AQ and
BTTN and SB call.
Flop is:

9d-5c-7h (Pot £13)

We all check and
the turn comes:

9d-5c-7h-6d (Pot £13)

Checked to the BTTN who bets
£7, SB calls and I muck. Turn comes:

9d-5c-7h-6d-7d (Pot £27)

SB
bets £15.
After about 30 seconds, BTTN announces, “I don’t care if you have
the straight I’m all in for £22”

Dealer says £7 more to call, SB then
tables over his hand:

9c-9s

Then confidently announces full house.
Dealer says you need to put in £7 more.
About 30 seconds later the BTTN
tables his hand:

Ac7c

Slamming it down and negatively announcing,
“fuking trips” Then he goes into a rage about how it’s his pot as the SB didn’t
call the last £7 so he is taking the pot.

After a brief stating of
somewhat ruling(which I didn’t agree with), SB’s hand is declared dead and the
pot is awarded to the BTTN.

I don’t know this guy, he got unlucky all
night and played good and spoke broken English. I think he was Austrian. I’m
feeling a bit in disbelief about the ruling on the hand and how horrible it was
to have squabbling in a pot without a house dealer.
Floor re-affirms the
ruling given and the pot is awarded to the BTTN. I quit the game and state I
don’t wish to play in a game with such shaky rulings and squabbling at the
table.
After the table breaks.

My thoughts are, who doesn’t call 3rd
nuts for 7 BB’s more into a 64 BB pot! The guy confidently announced his hand
with authority, I thought he was a live noob and just thought he didn’t need to
put the last £7 in as the pot was his, and he didn’t even get more than a minute
to put his 7 blind in.
To me he called when announcing his hand and any
decent floor person would make that decision, but what do I know….as said and I
washed up online pro with not much live experience.

Sorry for such a long
winded post and good luck to you all.

Full Tilt Poker's Secondary Client Provider Authorization application

Hope you are all educated enough to know of the AP & UB scandals under the KGC, do you really think your safe playing under regulation of the the Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC), as FTP’s secondary CPA. That was of course a rhetorical question.

The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has already stated all funds are locked, pending the US DOJ Office’s investigation in relation to the four company’s, Vantage Ltd, Oxalic Ltd, Filco Ltd and Orinic Ltd, collectively trading as FULL TILT POKER.

I don’t think this will change the operational status of FTP, maybe they have found some shady loop hole(highly doubt it though).

GUKPT - G Casino Sheffield

I have had a super busy last few days!
Thursday I started working in a School one day a week to mentor young people, Friday I got another job in Derbyshire County Council as a Residential Child Care Worker, I’m already employed as a Youth Worker for D.C.C and have been for almost 4 years now, so I’m really happy I can continue to progress my career with D.C.C.
Earlier on in the week I had been checking out the GUKPT Sheffield leg and decided that I may take a shot at the ME £500+£50. I decided to play a super satellite first in the £35+£5 re-buy on Friday to see if I could luckbox a cheap seat. After I registered I ended up playing a cash game whilst the 5 of us who registered for the super satellite were hanging around waiting for another 5 players to register(they wouldn’t start a table without at least 10 players).
Friday was the first live poker session I’d played in ages! I was so card dead! The big pots I played I lost, TPGK to 5 outta all in on flop, then later on I made a fold in a tricky spot where I was wrong. I ended up making a little money, but basically for the 8 hour session I played, my results were pretty hilarious! I played last night and this morning too.
I met a local lad on the first nights session, who I ended up giving a lift home. He was on his birthday celebration, playing the session with one friend who ended up going home at 12pm. After learning that he lived on the way I would be travelling back home, I offered to take him back as he wanted to continue his session.
So me and this guy have been playing sessions at the card room in at the G- Casino at Sheffield since Friday. So far in total we have put in about 30-32 hours of play. Pretty crazy long sessions! I’m shocked at my ability to maintain patience and discipline for these prolonged periods of time in a live card room enviroment! It gave me an idea, which is to try to play a huge session of 48 hours or more in a live card room, trying to beat my longest session record which was set online.

What is your longest session everybody? Mine is just shy of 48 hours online(with food, toilet & shower breaks),then for a live card room enviroment just the 8 hours so far.

Think we may be frequenting the G- Casino’s card room this evening too, full of energy after watching this advert:

News International:News Of The World

When I heard about the news which was of course the closure of one of the most successful newspapers in the world, being in print since 1843, I couldn’t believe my ears. Perhaps the bigger story here is what do these actions translate into?
After further telephone hacking scandals, this time the uncovering of murder victim’s phones being hacked, News International announced they are going to close down the publication, with Sunday 10th July being the last print.

Why would you want to close such a successful part of your empire News International? Is it because you know that by closing News of The World, you can shred all your documents and get rid of any further incriminating evidence, as no court order has yet to be issued to this part of the News International empire.

It’s fun to watch the big corporations hitting all the right buttons to get their selves out of huge tangles, maybe even more so funnier is knowing how many loop holes there still are in modern law today, what would have been even more funnier would have been to see what the public enquiry found after turning up a few stones!

Anyway, well played, good game Mr Murdoch

If you like money and don‘t mind collecting and keeping things for a long time my advice is to buy a few copies of the last print.

The Vampire Diaries

One of my favourite TV shows at the moment is The Vampire Diaries. Last nights episode was pretty emotional. The combination of such an emotional scene after an action packed episode and this track playing over it brought a tear to my eye.

Elena(Nina Dobrev) didn’t die so I’m ok. Best thing is she didn’t turn into a vampire so I can still to date her someday ;)

Pwning the Stock Market Part 2: Kaboom!

If I could use one expression to describe this last week, it would most definitely be:
Kaboom!

It’s hard not to let good scores go to your head and inflate your ego, this would be one of those scores!
I guesstimated that I could get up to a 30% return on a stock(BPTY)in a one day trade on the stock market. Had I patiently waited the day out I wouldn’t have been far wrong as this stock closed up 29.77%.
I think the days peak on this stock was an increase of 40.2%.
After the first up wave the stock took just over a ten unit dive, this was due to some of the big dogs dumping the stock off. I almost sold the stock at 9:20am after this, nervously I held off! The second wave I had already made my mind up to sell the stock as soon as it approaches the first waves peak. I sold the stock for just under one unit off the first waves peak, which was good considering what I could have sold for if I’d waited the day out.
I’m very happy with my return, a fair bit better than what I’d expected. It’s a shame the big stock ballas dumped the stock this early on in the day but I guess they know what their doing, it just messes it up for small timers like me taking big shots.

I’d not wanted to post this before now as I was unsure if I was going to take another pop at this stock! I’ve been watching the stock for the majority of most days last week and it just seemed too volatile in the short term to attempt another short term investment without any further positive market impacting news. I still stand by my view that this stock is a good long term investment, although it does have some risk factors involved due to the various obvious factors, as does all stock.

The Easter weekend has been amazing also. It has been very sunny here in England, which is somewhat unusual for this time of year. We had a BBQ on Saturday and invited lots of friends. Everyone was so drunk after drinking all day! Lot’s of hilarious conversations came around, that is if this one girl had her mouth full which would allow others to converse! My neighbour/friend, Sarah had invited this girl who is incredibly beautiful, until she opens her mouth that is! No one could get a word in edge ways. I’m a 100% sure If I’d not been so high on life and beer at that point I’d have given her a talking to. Everyone kept making subtle comments which became increasingly un-subtle as the day wore on! HAHA. But really, I wonder how some people do not realise their own self image and how others may perceive them? I’m super conscious of my own self image and how others perceive me. I think maybe that’s why I’m so thoughtful to others. Life shapes us all in different ways and I’m very happy with how life has shaped me so far.

Hope you all had an amazing Easter weekend.

Pwning the Stock Market Part 1: How to make £9000 in one day

Unless you have been drunk or walking around with your eyes shut since Friday you will know that the F.B.I indicted four poker company’s who have been providing services for Americans to play online poker.
I’m sat here with a stock brokers number and by the time you have read this I will have brought up 75% of my net worth in BWIN.PARTY DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT PLC(BPTY)shares.
I guesstimate I can make up to 30% on my investment in a one day trade. I’m hoping on getting up to £9000 GBP return on £30,000 GBP in a day trade. The historical high for this stock is around £5.77.5p per share, but that was when Party Gaming was operating in the American market.
I did well on my currency conversion a few years back making nearly £6000 GBP in a one day trade.
Opportunities don’t come along often in life and despite all the bad news regarding this stock in the past month or so I’m very confident this stock is going to rise heavily on open today.

This to me is a no-brainer. All the competition is being exterminated and I think a big percentage of the indicted sites player pools will chose Party Poker as their new home. This is a more long term impact which will surely make this stock bullish over the medium-long term.

My homepage is BBC world news.Yep I'm sad, but hey I like to know what's kicking in the world.

So today I log onto my desktop and email a few reports off then I go check out some world news. This caption really caught my eyes:

"The phrase "bunga bunga" has become inextricably linked with the private life of Italy's Silvio Berlusconi, and for those who have puzzled over its the origins an intriguing new explanation of its meaning has been offered."

Ok so if your not too interested in reading the whole article just skim it over then check out the link which provides a few meanings for this term.

Better dust off the old alarm clock then!

Last Friday I got a job offer for full time work. This last 18 month or so poker has become really hard for me and maybe others to deal with? I’m ready for a change and would sooner not hang around spending my own money on the cost of living waiting for some kind of legalisation in the American market which will probably only sustain online poker for a few more years. Fact of the matter is we live off other peoples disposable income. First thing that started to nail a lid on this coffin was the UIGEA, then the final enforcement of this act. Not long after an almost global recession started which led to high commodities and RPI increasing which inevitably means this disposable income that we are all trying to win becomes less and less.

I’d been looking for work since mid October last year. In December I’d been talking with a friend I met during the Full Tilt Poker Million Pound Challenge late 2008 and he was kind enough to offer me a place to stay for free and a job in Singapore. I was due to fly out to Singapore before the end of this month. I was really not to excited about telling him I was staying here to work, but deep down I was hoping to get a decent job as I know another venture like Singapore could ultimately be a bit like poker has been for me. Fun, lots of freedom and a chance to bank some more cash. Thing is I’ll be 31 years of age come April and a career path is much more valuable to me. If I lose another 3-5 years of my life when I should be concentrating on a good career path and future business plans this will make creating a decent career path harder at a later date.

I’m lucky because I got this job which has great career prospects, good money and it’s a job I will enjoy doing. The job is basically working in a private boarding school for young boys who get referred from local authorities. These young boys all have emotional and social difficulties so the job will be pretty challenging at times. I travelled over Christmas and had to come home earlier than planned due to them calling me back for a 2nd interview. I’m a pretty confident person and I feel I always excel if given a job interview. I was confident I’d get this job so it shouldn’t have boosted my ego but it has. So many people applied for this position and so many people got interviewed. I spent ages creating and updating my C.V and I actually look pretty dam good on paper even if I do say so myself and also I think it’s a testament to my good character that I got this position.

I will still play poker but not at a professional level. Over Christmas I’ve played that many MTT’s I think the best plan for me is to just play free rolls and use that money to slowly grind into a bankroll.

Just for fun here is a list of previous poker room screen names I’ve ran over the years.(My initial and current PartyPoker screen names and PokerStars screen name withheld.)

New Years Resolution

Only have one this year and that's to get up earlier each day, not sleep too late and maintain a healthy sleep pattern.

Happy New Year.
2011 will be a good year.
